When to Use It: 

You want to understand why your customers are churning, and which customers are most likely to churn in the next subscription period.

What It Tells You: 

  • Identifying behavioral and individual-level factors that predict churn
  • A ‘churn score’ for each customer


Common Data Sets: 

Almost always transactional data, but survey data can be included.

Statistical Methods: 

Advanced timing regression models, including:

  • Cox proportional hazards
  • Regressions with timing response distributions (e.g. Weibull/Gamma/Exponential/Lognormal)

Discrete models such as:

  • Logistic regression
  • Advanced machine learning models
